This privacy policy became effective in June 2013.
Online/Telecommunications Privacy Policy Only
This online privacy policy applies only to information collected through our website or over the phone. It does not make representations as to the privacy policies of third party companies that you may encounter in using our site (for example, PayPal). Please read those companies’ privacy policies carefully to understand how they use your information.
What information do we collect?
We collect information from you when you place an order via our website located at http://convergencesoftware.net, or over the phone. When ordering over the phone you will be asked for your name, e-mail address, company name, mailing address, phone number and credit card information. On the website, you will give this same information via an online Paypal form. You may, however, also visit our site anonymously by browsing the site instead of registering online. We do not collect information in person.
What do we use your information for?
Any of the information we collect from you may be used in one of the following ways:
To Process Transactions
Your credit card information will be used to process a transaction and will not be sold, exchanged, transferred, or given to any other company for any reason whatsoever, without your consent, other than for the express purpose of delivering the purchased product or service requested.
To Contact You
Your general contact information, such as name, email, and phone number can be used for a variety of purposes such as contacting you about your order, calling you back to respond to a customer service inquiry, and emailing you to complete customer satisfaction surveys or updating you on product or service contract updates. You may choose to opt out of being contacted.
How do we protect your information?
We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information when you place an order or enter, submit, or access your personal information. For example, Convergence uses a secure server and all supplied sensitive/credit information is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into our payment gateway providers’ (Paypal) database. This database will only be accessed by authorized personnel. In addition, personnel who access such information are required to keep it confidential. The financial information you provide via our website or over the phone will reside with Paypal and is not stored on Convergence’s servers.
Do we disclose any information to outside parties?
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information except in the circumstances identified above. This does not include trusted third parties (such as Paypal) who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential.
We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect legal rights, property, or safety.
For example, we share personal information when:
We are required to provide information to comply with applicable laws, subpoenas, court orders or other legal processes
We have a good faith belief that the disclosure is necessary to prevent or respond to fraud, defend our websites or applications against attacks, or protect the rights, property and safety of Convergence, our customers and users, or the public.
We sell some or all of our business. If we merge with another company or if we decide to sell or reorganize some part or all of our business (including if we file for bankruptcy or are part of a similar proceeding), we may share personal information. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur, and that any acquirer of the part of our business, assets or stock affected may continue to use information about you as set forth in this privacy policy.
We share or publish aggregated information and other information that does not specifically identify you, such as statistics about the number of visitors to our websites or about how customers use our software.
Your Consent
By using our site, you consent to our privacy policy.
COPPA
We intend to fully comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. We do not knowingly collect information from children under age 13, and if we inadvertently were to collect such information, it would be immediately deleted.
Future Updates to this Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Check the “last updated” section at the top of this privacy policy to see the last time the privacy policy was changed.
If we decide to make changes to our privacy policy on a forward going basis, we will post it at convergence software. You should periodically check that site for updates. Your continued use of our software and websites constitutes your agreement to this privacy policy.
For changes to this privacy policy that may be materially less restrictive on our use or disclosure of personal information that you have provided to us, we will obtain your consent before implementing the change. Please contact us if you have questions.
Do we use cookies or analytics and how do we respond to Do Not Track Signals?
We do not use cookies.
Convergence uses a very simple analytics tool to ascertain where our website traffic comes from. That tool does not identify URLs or otherwise track information that might personally identify a user.
Some web browsers may transmit "do-not-track" signals to websites with which the browser communicates, telling the site not to follow its online movements. Because of differences in how web browsers interpret this feature, it is not always clear whether users intend for these signals to be transmitted, or whether they are even aware of them. Therefore, Convergence currently does respond to such do not track signals.
Participants in the leading Internet standards-setting organization that is addressing this issue are in the process of determining what, if anything, websites should do when they receive such signals. If and when a final standard is established and accepted, Convergence may reassess how to respond to these signals.
